Why do marketers need so many mailboxes?
Web marketers are a new breed of entrepreneur, and with their genre, they have certain requirements. They make financial transactions mostly online. Most do this entirely online.
To do this they use web based payment processor sites, or “ewallets”, to make their transactions. The most common name in this field is PayPal.com, they are one of the earliest ewallets to come online. Founded in 1998, and now are owned by Ebay.com.
There are many others that offer financial services. What an ewallet does is allows you to create an account with them. With your account you can establish secure connections to your bank account, credit cards, debit cards and other similar institutions.
When you wish to purchase an online service or product, which that is much of what web marketers do, these services like web advertising for instance have an account with the same ewallets which you can buy with. You fund your ewallet account from your linked bank account, or from sales you make using the ewallet, and make the purchase for the advertising.
These ewallets require you to have a valid email address. They send your receipts for purchases you make, and when others buy from you, you get notice of this in your email. You can see how this is absolutely essential.
Now suppose you have a sub-standard email account, and you use this account as your contact address at your ewallet. If your mail account disappears or events occur to take them offline indefinitely, you will loose your power to do business. You will not know of sales you make, and worse, when someone does purchase you may not get mail telling you.
If you have to depend on this mail to provide the service or product to that customer, you will have an angry customer on your hands. This can result in chargebacks to our ewallet account, which can also lead to your ewallet account being closed and your funds being seized. This is the volatility of web marketing.
That is one reason you should create and designate your ewallet email ID to one of the major email networks. It is extremely unlikely they will go offline, and if they do it is never very long. If they do, or they do not provide good accurate and timely service to you, switch to another one. One big tip though, pay for a premium email account with them, and you will get very good service.
I have 3 years experience to back that up. Free mail service is good, but paying members pay their bills, and they will take care of the paid members before their free ones. You wont hear the say that, but its just the way the world works, and has worked for eons.
Keep this info near to you. It will save you much grief if you go into web marketing.
The next mailbox a web marketer needs is a junk mail box. Bad word, but its still the truth of the matter. When web marketers post email ads and other type advertising, they must agree to accept mail from the service that is allowing them to do this. In other words, if you advertise with them, they have the right to advertise to you.
For this reason, you need a “subscribe” email box. This is ONLY for this type mail. Many web marketers join “safelists”. These are memberships that are composed other web marketers. Each of them are allowed to send ads at varying frequencies to the members. Being a member sending an ad, you also have to accept the other members’ ads.
The safelist site will require a “contact” email address, and a “subscribe” email address. The ads from other members will go to the subscribe address. Mail from the owner of the safelist, the admin, will mail you at your contact address. It used to be, you only got important mail from the admin occasionally. Now, admins are selling “solo ads to contact addresses” so that you get at least one ad from the admin every day.
This is the basis for mailbox number 2. You will get mail every day to your subscribe mailbox. I needs to be a paid box, and/or have capacity for huge amounts of mail. If you join one safelist with 300 members, you can expect 300 emails to your subscribe mailbox every day. If you join 10 safelists with 300 members, you will get 3,000 mails every day.
Whoah!
But this is the nature of the beast. To sell something you have to advertise it. Safelists have been around since the late 90’s and still are an effective medium to advertise with. Mailboxes specifically designed just to accept safelist mail are around too. I wont go into what providers you should use, but you do not want to use the major providers for this.
Mailbox number 3. The safelist contact address. In the previous paragraph, I explained mail from safelist admins. Several safelist memberships will constitute much mail too. But, you cant ignore this mail or just delete it in bulk as you might with your subscribe mail. There may be very important notices from the admin, and more importantly special deals they are offering. These special offers come straight from the admins and usually aren’t advertised or posted anywhere else and are exclusive to members.
This is an important mailbox to the web marketer. Several hundred safelist memberships make it a chore, but, it’s a necessary evil if you do home biz. I have come across many steals being offered by the admin of a list in my experience. I always at least scan the subject lines of my safelist contact mail once or twice a day before I delete them.
Lastly, and most important, is your contact email address. You will want to use this for personal dialog to all types of contacts ONLY after you establish they will not flood you with ads later. In web marketing as in the concrete business world, who you know is everything.
If you promote a program that generates you income when you refer or recruit a member with your program you are promoting, you will need to contact them and offer your assistance if they need it. Giving encouragement and help using that program to your members, is your primary marketing tool.
Why?
Because it promotes trust. You offer honest help to them, and they need it, they will be grateful and come to trust you as you share more dialog with each other. This trust also motivates them to trust you enough to join or buy other services and products you may want to offer them. It is statistical fact, most surfers will not buy a particular product they are not looking for until they have read at least 5 emails regarding that product.
Quite and involved topic, when it includes web marketing isn’t it? You can see how the web marketer and web based businesses have had a very large hand in the development of the Internet. Programmers that were writing web-based applications specifically for the web marketer or sites that provide services to them brought about many technological changes to the Internet.
