Optimize the RIGHT Keywords!

We are assuming you know how important meta-tags are to SEO optimization. If you don't we highly suggest you read our Meta-tag section.
Let's face it, you probably are not a Search Engine Expert. But even though you aren't we can get you to the top of Google for many quality keywords......because most other people aren't experts either. To really get to the top of google, overture, msn, or any of the good search engines you need to be smarter than the rest of the people who are failing to optimize the right keywords.

Let's say you run an affiliate program, for our example we are going to use a program that is a great way to get your articles published or to publish a review of your website.

It's Groupmarketingsolutions.com, we will use this site because it's a great way to get some good links coming back to your site for the search engines to find.

Now since Groupmarketingsolutions is new we need to figure out what keywords it should be optimizing. Lets look at the meta-tags for the index page:
< title>GroupMarketingSolutions.com: Automated E-zine and Marketing tools!</title>
< meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1">
< meta http-equiv="content-language" content="en">
< meta name="abstract" content="Automatic e-zine and marketing manager">
< meta name="author" content="Ed Charkow">
< meta name="cache-control" content="no-cache">
< meta name="description" content="Groupmarketingsolutions provides users with the automated e-zine/newsletter management systems that automatically grow the users e-mail lists. Using cutting edge technology anyone can produce and deliver an amazing content rich newsletter.">
< meta name="distribution" content="Global">
< meta name="document-distribution" content="Global">
< meta name="document-rating" content="General">
< meta name="document-rights" content="Copywritten work">
< meta name="document-state" content="static">
< meta name="keywords" content="E-zine,ezine, ezine manager,bulk email, e-mail delivery,e-mail marketing,newsletter, newsletter management,marketing tools,newsletter co-op,co-registration,newsletter co-registration">
< meta name="mssmarttagspreventparsing" content="true">
< meta name="publisher" content="Groupmarketingsolutions.com">
< meta name="rating" content="General">
< meta name="resource-type" content="document">
< meta name="revisit-after" content="30 days">
< meta name="robots" content="INDEX,FOLLOW">
< meta name="Address" content="http://www.groupmarketingsolutions.com">

Seems to me that Groupmarketingsolutions should be trying to optimize words like ezine. However, it's pretty competitive. A search using GoodKeyword Tool reveals the following:

"Ezine", has been searched for almost 11,000 times in overture this month. That means that Google probably has about 90,000 searches. A pretty competitive niche, that we just aren't going to break into overnight. In fact a quick search at Google reveals almost 3 million returned websites for the term ezine.

Let's not even try to get in the top 10 searches there. Instead lets try to optimize some other keywords. The Groupmarketingsolutions site could optimize a number of quality keywords and really grow their traffic. Some examples are: newsletter manager, e-zine, co-registration newsletter, etc....

The important part is finding relevant keywords to optimize.
